To clarify the intent behind our Bylaws. Some sections of the Bylaws are broadly written and open to interpretation, so we’ve created this plain-language summary to help ensure everyone has a clear and consistent understanding of how certain terms and rules apply in practice.
OWNER Any person or legal entity holding legal title to property in Alegría. If the Owner is an individual, this includes immediate family members, persons related by blood, marriage, domestic partnership, adoption, or legal guardianship, and others living permanently with them. If the Owner is a legal entity, individuals who are officers listed in corporate records are considered Owners under this definition. An Owner is entitled to all privileges granted in the Bylaws.
TENANT / RENTER Any person or entity renting or leasing a property in Alegría under a written or verbal agreement with the Owner. A Tenant who lives in Alegría for 30 consecutive days or more is also considered a Resident.
RESIDENT: Any Owner or Tenant who resides in Alegría for 30 or more consecutive days has Resident status. ("Resides" is defined by overnight stay in Alegría as your primary location during that time period.)
VISITOR: Any person invited by a Resident or Management to enter Alegria, not staying overnight. Visitors are single-day guests only.
WORKER: Any person engaged under contract by a Resident or Management to provide labor or services in Alegría.

- Live-in Worker - resides in Alegría overnight for the duration of the contract.
- Day Worker - works in Alegría but does not remain overnight.
In addition, to help keep our communication channels organized and to maintain a sense of
safety and connection, we’d like to kindly propose the following practices:
When hosting renters or guests, please remind them to remove themselves from the Residents and other Alegría group chats once their stay ends. If they return, they can easily be added again. (Note: WhatsApp can make re-adding people tricky once they’ve been removed by someone else.)
When welcoming new tenants or guests, we encourage you to briefly introduce them in the Residents chat with a short description and a photo. This helps us all stay familiar with new faces in our shared space.
