  • Fast growing pioneer tree that grows up to 55m on forests.
  • Pollinated by bats and arboreal mammals and seeds dispersed by wind as are surrounded by a cotton like fiber.
  • Kapok is an astringent, diuretic herb that lowers fevers, relaxes spasms and controls bleeding. The bark and the leaves are used in the treatment of bronchial congestion.
  • Edible parts: tender leaves, flower, buds and fruits. Salt substitute from wood ashes. PROPAGATION: Seeds and cuttings
