Alegría Village, located in San Mateo, Costa Rica, encompasses 70 hectares (170 acres) of fertile farmland. Central to the community is a regenerative organic farm and orchard, established in August 2018. Since then, the community has cultivated approximately 8,000 square meters (about 2 acres) of land and planted 600 fruit trees in a communal orchard. Additionally, over 1,700 trees representing 25 native species have been planted throughout the property. The farm operates on regenerative organic agriculture principles, aiming to produce nutritious, organic food while enhancing biodiversity and ecological health. Residents benefit from weekly baskets of fresh produce supplied by the farm.
