Description
A refreshing, tangy, and slightly spiced herbal drink made with hibiscus (roselle), ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and fresh cucumber. This vibrant red beverage is rich in antioxidants and cooling on hot days. Naturally caffeine-free and perfect as a hydrating, tropical wellness drink.
Instructions
- In a pot, bring to a boil:
- 4 cups of water
- ½ cup dried or fresh roselle petals
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger (sliced)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3–4 cloves
- Let it boil gently for 5–10 minutes.
- Turn off heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
- Grate cucumber and add it to the cooled drink.
- Stir in sugar to taste (start with 2–3 tablespoons).
- Strain the mixture to remove solids.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Serve cold over ice, optionally garnished with mint or cucumber slices.
Notes
- You can replace sugar with honey or panela.
- Add a squeeze of lime for extra zing.
- For a fizzy version, mix with sparkling water before serving.
- Roselle may stain surfaces—handle with care!
