Description
A vibrant, low-waste herbal tea made by simmering pineapple peels and core with ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon. Naturally sweetened with maple syrup, this immune-boosting drink can be enjoyed hot or cold.
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash the pineapple skin and core. Consider soaking in a vinegar-water solution for 15–30 minutes to remove contaminants.
- Place the pineapple skin and core in a large pot with 6 cups of filtered water.
- Add the cinnamon stick, ground turmeric, sliced ginger, and a pinch of black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a low simmer. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
- Add the maple syrup and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to dissolve the sweetener.
- Remove from heat and strain the tea.
- Serve hot, or allow to cool and refrigerate for up to one week.
